Your bloodwork says you're "normal." Your body says otherwise.
One simple, at-home test looks at your mineral status and can provide real insight into your energy, your hormones, your stress response, and the symptoms no one's been able to explain.
If your bloodwork says everything is fine,
and you feel anything but...
If you've been told your labs look fine while you're still exhausted, still not sleeping, still watching your hair fall out in the shower, or still waiting on a cycle that won't regulate, there's a good chance no one has actually looked at your minerals yet.
Minerals are the foundation everything else in your body runs on, and a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is the one test that shows what's actually happening at the tissue level, not just what's floating through your blood on the day you got drawn.
Here's the part no one tells you:
You've probably already done the rounds. A standard panel here, a thyroid check there, maybe even a full workup that came back "within normal limits." And yet you still feel tired but wired. Still snap at your kids over nothing. Still can't figure out why your cycle went from predictable to unpredictable, or why six months of trying to conceive has turned into a year.
I hear this constantly in my practice, especially from women trying to get pregnant, recovering from a pregnancy, or raising small kids while running on fumes. So often, when we finally look at minerals, we find the missing piece.
It's my birthday month! And instead of asking you to celebrate me, I want to give you something.
For the rest of July, my HTMA package is $225 (normally $375).
To put that in perspective further, other practitioners with my level of experience are charging $500+ for the same depth of testing and interpretation.
Why Minerals Matter to Whole Body Health
Minerals aren't a minor nutrient category. They're co-factors for thousands of enzyme reactions happening in your body right now. They're required for every muscle contraction and every muscle release, from the ones in your uterus to the ones in your heart and everything in between. They also control whether nutrients can even get in or out of your cells in the first place.
Nothing crosses a cell membrane without minerals doing the work.
This is exactly why mineral status matters so much across fertility, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and childhood development. A body that's depleted in the right minerals struggles to build a healthy follicle, sustain a pregnancy, recover after birth, or support a growing child's nervous system. Because minerals are foundational rather than condition-specific, imbalances tend to show up as a wide constellation of symptoms rather than one clean diagnosis. That's part of why it can be so hard to pin down through conventional testing alone.
Why Test Hair?
Blood is a poor place to look for chronic mineral depletion, and there's a specific reason for that. Your body treats blood mineral levels as non-negotiable. It will pull minerals out of your tissues, bones, and cells to keep blood levels stable, because even small swings in blood mineral concentration can affect your heart and nervous system. That protective mechanism is exactly why blood tests can look "normal" in someone who is significantly depleted everywhere else.
Magnesium is a clear example of this. Only around 0.3% of the magnesium in your body actually circulates in your blood at any given time. The vast majority is stored in bone and soft tissue, which a standard blood draw simply doesn't measure.
Hair works differently. As hair grows, the cells forming it draw from the surrounding fluid and blood supply, incorporating minerals and trace elements into the hair shaft as it hardens. Because hair grows continuously, it ends up holding a kind of timestamped record, roughly 2 to 3 months' worth, of what's actually been available in your tissues, rather than just a single blood-draw snapshot.
The same principle applies to heavy metals, and this is where hair testing has a real edge. Acute, high-level metal exposure can sometimes show up in blood, but low-grade chronic exposure usually doesn't, because your body moves those metals out of circulation and into tissue. Urine testing typically needs to be paired with a chelating agent to pull out a measurable amount. Stool testing reflects only what's being cleared through the biliary route on a given day. Hair, by contrast, can pick up a pattern of gradual accumulation and elimination over time that these other methods are more likely to miss.

What's Tested?
Your test is processed through Trace Elements, Inc., a licensed clinical laboratory that's been running HTMA testing since 1984. Each report measures 37 individual elements plus 27 calculated ratios.
- 15 nutritional minerals, including calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, zinc, copper, iron, phosphorus, manganese, chromium, selenium, boron, cobalt, molybdenum, and sulfur
- 8 toxic heavy metals, including arsenic, mercury, lead, cadmium, aluminum, antimony, uranium, and beryllium
- 14 additional trace elements currently being studied for their role in human health
- 27 calculated mineral ratios, reflecting patterns tied to adrenal function, thyroid activity, blood sugar regulation, and toxic metal interference with nutrient absorption
- Markers of oxidative stress and detoxification capacity
- Metabolic type (fast vs. slow oxidation) and nervous system stress patterns
- Copper imbalance, a commonly missed driver of hormone and mood symptoms
What we can interpret from these numbers
- Metabolic/oxidation type (fast vs. slow)
- Adrenal function patterns
- Thyroid function patterns
- Blood sugar regulation patterns
- Nervous system stress stage
- Toxic metal burden and elimination status
- Mineral antagonism (how excess of one metal interferes with essential mineral utilization)
Who is this test for?
Fertility
Mineral status is foundational to fertility. It plays into hormone production, egg quality, and the nutrient reserves your body draws on to build a healthy pregnancy from day one.
Chronic Stress
Minerals like sodium, magnesium, and potassium play a direct role in how your body responds to and recovers from stress. If you feel constantly on edge, wired at night, or like your body never fully relaxes, mineral patterns often reflect that.
Kids, anyone looking to avoid a blood draw
This test is great for those hesitant about blood draws, anyone too busy to go to the lab, and kids (especially those with ADD/ADHD, mood, behavior or sleep concerns)
Postpartum & Breastfeeding
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are mineral-intensive. Postpartum depletion is real, and it's often the missing explanation behind the exhaustion, mood shifts, and hair loss that get written off as "just part of having a baby."
Metabolism & Energy Issues
Whether it's stubborn weight loss, low energy despite adequate sleep, or a metabolism that feels slower than it used to, mineral ratios are tied to how efficiently your body produces and uses energy.
Anyone who feels off with no clear answer
Fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, stubborn PMS, thyroid symptoms despite "normal" labs, sleep that never feels restorative. If this is you, minerals are one of the most foundational places to start looking.
"After my second baby, I felt like I was falling apart. My hair was coming out in handfuls, my anxiety was through the roof, and I was so exhausted. My bloodwork kept coming back 'normal,' so I felt like I was losing my mind.
When I finally got my HTMA results back with Becki, it was like she'd been living inside my head. Everything finally made sense, and for the first time I had an actual plan instead of just being told to rest more."

Frequently asked questions
What is HTMA Testing?
HTMA is a non-invasive screening test that uses a small sample of recent hair growth to assess mineral status and heavy metal accumulation in the tissues over the past 2 to 3 months.
Why hair instead of blood?
Blood is tightly regulated to stay within a narrow, stable range, even at the expense of your tissues. Hair reflects what has actually been deposited at the cellular level over time, offering a more accurate window into tissue mineral status and toxic metal exposure than a single blood draw can provide.
Blood tests are great too and I absolutely run them when working with clients, but this test is a simple place to start at home without having to go to get a lab draw!
What lab processes the test?
Trace Elements, Inc., a licensed clinical laboratory specializing in hair mineral analysis since 1984.
How do I collect the sample?
You'll receive a kit with clear instructions. It requires a small amount of hair trimmed close to the scalp, collected from the comfort of your home.
How long until I get results?
Typically 2 to 3 weeks from when the lab receives your sample. You will receive an email directly from me with your results, personalized interpretation and action plan covering key findings and recommendations.
How often should I retest?
Every 3 to 4 months is generally recommended to track how your minerals are shifting in response to your protocol.
Is this covered by insurance?
Unfortunately, no. However I do accept FSA and HSA cards on labs and consults.
Is this right for kids too?
Yes. HTMA is non-invasive a great starting point to use with children instead of subjecting them to a blood draw, and growing bodies have significant mineral demands.
What if I need more support once I get my results?
When you get your results, you have one week to ask me any additional follow up questions about your results. If you still need more help, I would love to work with you 1:1.
